7 Mistakes Everyone Makes with LED Face Masks

LED face masks can give you brighter, tighter, and healthier-looking skin—as long as you avoid these common mistakes.

1. FORGETTING TO DO A SAFETY TEST FIRST

Always perform a safety test before using a new skincare product, including LED face masks. LED masks are relatively new, and if you have sensitive skin or bright light sensitivity, they might cause irritation. To test, use the mask on a small area of your body, like your arm, and wait a day to check for reactions. Consult a doctor or dermatologist if you have severe skin issues.

2. DOING YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE BEFORE USING THE MASK

Cleanse your face to remove makeup and oils before using your LED mask. A clean and dry face allows the light to penetrate more effectively. After your LED treatment, you can continue with your skincare routine.

3. NOT UTILIZING ALL THE DIFFERENT LIGHT OPTIONS

LED masks offer different light colors for various skin concerns:

Red: Reduces inflammation and signs of aging, promotes blood circulation.

Near-infrared: Reduces inflammation, redness, pigmentation, and fine lines.

Blue: Treats acne and scarring, reduces breakouts.

Orange: Stimulates collagen production for firmer, healthier skin.

White: Tightens skin, aids tissue and scar healing, reduces inflammation.

4. WEARING YOUR LED FACE MASK FOR TOO LONG

LED face masks are convenient and hands-free, but don’t forget to follow the recommended usage time. Most masks will automatically turn off after a session, usually recommended 3-5 times a week. Check your mask’s manual for specific instructions.

5. NOT USING MASK FOR NECK

The neck and décolletage zone often shows visible signs of aging but is frequently overlooked in skincare routines.

This intricate region often reveals the earliest signs of aging—thin skin, wrinkles, sun spots, age spots, and more.

6. NOT PROPERLY FITTING THE MASK TO YOUR FACE

Ensure your mask fits well. Use adjustable straps to secure it comfortably and ensure good skin contact.

7. FORGETTING TO CLEAN YOUR LED FACE MASK

Clean your LED mask after each use to remove oils and dirt. Wipe it down with a damp cloth or a wipe, and use rubbing alcohol for stubborn stains. Regular cleaning ensures your mask remains effective and hygienic.

Avoid these common mistakes to get the most out of your LED face mask and enjoy brighter, healthier skin!
